Year 5 Homework (Topic) - World Book Day 3D Model

Miss Hannah has set us a fabulous homework!

This year, Horsenden is going to enter the national World Book Day Competition for the first time!

Instead of individual entries, our whole school is going to work together to transform the mezzanine in the Key Stage Two library into a fantastic new reading area!

In order to be in with a chance of winning, we need to create a display that shows how our school is flying high with reading.

Chris, Joanna and Clare, the team behind the Flying Fergus books and the judges of the competition, are passionate about how a love of reading can help you to achieve your dreams. They also know how important it is to be part of an amazing team and they want our school to work together to create something incredible that shows them how our school champions reading. For more information, visit

Year 5’s task is to create a 3D model that demonstrates how you fly high with reading.

You might make a giant 3D papier-mâche model of the aeroplane from Grandpa’s Great Escape! Maybe you’ll create a model of Winnie the Witch, Mildred Hubble or Harry Potter flying on their broomsticks! You could even include yourself in your artwork! Be creative – the mezzanine is a huge space, with plenty of room to hang things from the ceiling!

The best entries will be used to decorate the mezzanine.

The creators of the very best entries will also get a prize in our World Book Day assembly!
