Improvements to the Nursery outdoor area - A Mud Kitchen!

You may have noticed that the Nursery outdoor area has undergone some improvements over the summer holiday!

The old climbing frame (which had been in place since the building opened) was removed. It had started to show signs of heavy wear and tear, and parts became unsafe to use at the end of last year. It has been replaced by a lovely new climbing frame and replacement 'soft surface'. The new climbing frame includes a slide, bridge and various steps and ladders to climb.

This week, the Nursery have had a new piece of equipment installed. It is a 'Mud Kitchen'! Mud kitchens are a great way for children to learn using natural materials. You can find out more about Mud Kitchens by visiting;

The Nursery team will provide aprons for the children to wear whilst using the Mud Kitchen, and will support and encourage the children to wash their hands when they have finished. Nursery parents/carers may like to send in some wellington boots for your child to wear for outdoor play. The Nursery team would also like to remind Nursery parents/carers that clothing worn to Nursery should be suitable for active wear, appropriate for a range of potentially messy activities.

The Mud Kitchen will be fully in use next week, when the Nursery team will have collected lots of exciting natural materials to use in it. The Nursery team would like to thank Mrs Pearson for arranging and overseeing the installation of the new equipment.

The Nursery team look forward to sharing some photographs, soon!
