Leo in class 6S has recently been representing Ealing Canoe Club in the Winter Series competition. Leo competed in the Under 12s age group.
Leo races in the K1 kayak event which is an individual event where you have to kayak for 3 miles. Sometimes, there were locks in the way and Leo had to paddle to the lock, climb out of the water and pull his kayak out, carry the kayak to the other side of the lock, get back in the boat and then paddle to the finish line!
On Sunday 6 March, Leo competed in the final race of the Winter series. He came second in the event which brought his total to three silver medals and two bronze medals, overall. This meant that Leo finished the whole competition in second place and gained a commemorative glass. He won a medal for second place in Sunday's event.
He was awarded a trophy for the first placed male competitor. The overall competition was won by an older girl from a different club.
Leo will start racing again soon when he competes in the Hassler series. Good luck for future races.
Well done, Leo!
