Celebrating Holi by Devashree (6D)

At the beginning of March, Hindu's around the World celebrated Holi. Holi can mean slightly different things depending where you come from. My family come from Calcutta in Eastern India.

We normally wear white which shows up the colours really well but as I did not have anything white, I wore black leggings and a white t-shirt.

At Holi, we had to buy powder of different colours such as red, yellow, green, blue, purple and orange. We spread the coloured powder over each other to make sure we are colourful. We do this at home. Some people would have gone to the Temple or throw the powder over each other on the local streets. When we went back inside the house, everything got covered in coloured powder. My mum told me to stay in one place but I didn't do as I was told!

We also gave presents to each other. It is probably my favourite festival.
