Mark Collins (Co-opted Governor)
Term of office: 13/03/17 - 12/03/21
Previously, a Parent Governor 2012-2016
Committees:
Achievement & Community Committee
Full Governing Body
Previously Parent Governor (2012-2016)
I have been part of the Horsenden Governorship since 2012 when my son was attending his first year in Reception at the school. Since then I have worked with the school senior leadership team and fellow governors on the Achievement, Resourcing and Full Governor Board committees.
I currently work on the Achievement committee as a Co Opted governor and have governor responsibility for Pupil Premium. I also have responsibility to focus on Year 4 in 2017/18 and to conduct appropriate school visits to ensure the school is meeting its KS1 commitments.
My career to date has spanned education, consultancy and broadcasting. After graduating with a BA in Psychology from Exeter University in 1994, I spent 2 years in Japan working as a foreign language teacher in junior high schools. This was followed by a 5-year stint as an HR/Recruitment consultant in PwC, and then a move to the BBC in 2003. I currently work as a Senior Service Manager supporting the BBC’s News, Radio and iPlayer Online operations.
Over the last 6 years, I have been impressed with the professionalism and dedication of the Horsenden teaching and administration staff. They are passionate about what they do and want the school and its students to do well. I look forward to continuing my time as a governor, acting as a critical voice, and working with the leadership team for the ongoing benefit of the school.
