Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year

The Year Of The Rooster

Chinese New Year is Saturday January 28th and it is the Year of the Rooster. The story of the Chinese Zodiac is featured amongst several books on display in the Key Stage Two library. The Rooster is one of the twelve year cycle of animals which appear in the Chinese zodiac. Alongside an impressive Chinese dragon, are other traditional Chinese pieces of interest. Children might like to take a closer look at the Chinese calligraphy set with with different brushes, brush holder, stamp stone, inkwell, stamping ink, ink stone with abrasive surface and a black ink stick!  The lucky boy and girl figures in a greeting pose are also charming next to the traditional red and gold lanterns. The Rooster symbolises trustworthiness, with a strong sense of timekeeping and responsibility at work, which we all hope to achieve each day at school! Happy New Year and good fortune to everyone!
